Pros: Great location and very good value for money.
Cons: The aircon in the room was a bit noisy and I couldn't turn the fan to a lower speed but a minor issue in what was generally a very good experience.

Pros: Great location. Close to Empire State Building and not to far from Times Square. Also close to shopping!
Cons: Could have tea/coffee facilities in room.

Pros: The tea and coffee machine in reception were particularly appreciated, particularly on returning from a hectic day in New York! There was also iced water if you should want it. The bed was extremely comfortable and the additional fridge in the room was a godsend during the recent hot spell. There was always hot/boiling water and it was nice to be able to have a soak in the bath to ease the New York worn muscles! The hotel was easy to find, and although the area was busy at night, at no time did we feel insecure walking from the subway at night - although, we never seem to get the hang of getting off at the right stop for the hotel - this was a fault of ours. Would definitely stay at the Avalon again, but maybe would request a room higher up. Reception staff were very helpful, on both on check in and during our stay.
Cons: The air conditioning could have been quieter, and there was a bit of traffic noise from the road outside, but not enough to complain over.
