AAA Inspector Notes
This 1960s landmark has bright rooms offering comfort in a sleek, retro-modernist style. Refined service, great location and décor on a human scale make this an timeless East Side favorite. In 1961, renowned architect Morris Lapidus unveiled this masterpiece (known then as The Summit) in front of a crowd of luminaries. It instantly became the talk of the town thanks to its curved facade, sea foam-colored brick reminiscent of a rolling wave and slightly curved interior corridors. It is a mid-century classic.
