AAA Inspector Notes
Intimate and welcoming are the best words to describe this beautifully maintained, refined hotel. Guest rooms and bathrooms tend to be small but the décor is rich, and there is high-quality service. The on-site Lantern's Keep lounge is a great private club-like hideaway for an intimate evening cocktail. Smoke free premises. 114 units, some two bedrooms and efficiencies. 12 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Pros: Very clean and comfy bed.Great location and helpful staff.
Cons: Lighting could have been better as my room was dull.

Pros: Staff were very helpful and location was great.
Cons: When I booked the superior queen room months ago the description said king size bed and this was totally incorrect. The room we were given was the size of a shoebox, dark and the bed was a double. We upgraded but it cost us more money even though the hotel had spare rooms and the prices were lower on the Internet than when we originally booked
young couple
Pros: Cosy room. Friendly staff. Restaurant Le Triomphe.
Cons: Far too tiny room, even if cosy. No natural light. So quite dark. Noisy system if room in the back (air-conditioned system or lift mechanism?)
Very Good

Pros: Warm welcome from receptionist, along with personalised letter informing us of walks in the area. Great walk as part of the hotel's network, they have a partnership with a walking tour company and offer a complimentary walk each day - ours was around Hell's Kitchen and it was really good. We had booked it online in advance, but you can probably arrange it with the hotel on site. Front of house staff always smiling and acknowledged us each time. Super comfy beds, into which we simply collapsed at the end of each day. Very clean bathroom with good shower, plenty of towels and good toiletries. Chocolates on bed in the evening, as well as a free newspaper in the morning. Very quiet location despite being in central NY. Free wifi. Free coffee in a little room in the morning, and free water with orange/lime/cucumber, which was wonderful after a sticky day in the Big Apple. The room is not huge but makes good use of space - and this is NY where space is at a premium. Ours had 2 big beds, a desk and chair, a large chest of drawers and a closet with hanging space. Efficient cleaning & room service. In particular we had a problem with the in-room safe late on the friday night, called reception, were told that the engineer would be with us right away and wow - he was with us 3 minutes later, sorted out the problem and all was done smoothly. (And I was very grateful as it contained our travel tickets, money etc). Super stay.
Cons: None of these are big issues. The room was at the back of the building and quite dark. It was not possible to open the windows. The room had a slightly musty smell in places - it was very clean, I just think it needed real air to flow through. The cocktail bar on site is for 18+ only so if you have younger children you cannot enter the bar, even if you only intend on buying soft drinks. Steps to get into the hotel / no luggage ramp (and no porter when we arrived though he appeared later on after seeing to other customers).
