AAA Inspector Notes
Understatement and refined Asian style come together in warm woods, soft lighting and tailored symmetry here. Service is personal and attentive. The upscale lounge has live jazz performances nightly. The Japanese-style mood of serenity continues from the public spaces into the guest rooms, aided by noise canceling windows that completely mute the Midtown traffic noise, all the while offering a majestic Park Avenue view. Fabrics are soft to the touch and the furniture is of a thoughtful, high design that pleases the senses. 150 units. 18 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Pros: Room amenities were great
Cons: Staff were not as awesome as the amenities. Bell Desk made us carry our own luggage up - did not offer to take to our room. We reserved 2 rooms and made sure to ask for adjoining but were not granted - thatʻs fine but staff did not seem to care how difficult that made our stay there as we were traveling with children, my husband and I had to split the family up and stay in 2 different rooms

Pros: The location was quiet but only 10 mins walk to Grand Central & Empire State. The staff were typically Japanese - quietly efficient & pleasant not brash. Even the smaller (superior) room was well equipped & roomy- kettle, excellent toiletries, free slippers (missing but immediately supplied on request) & a firm mattress topper if you found the mattress too soft. Given a complimentary bottle of wine on our anniversary. Jazz club is excellent & it is normal to have a minimum spend or entry charge for such high quality artists. Would happily return.
Cons: Always an irritation if have to pay for internet in room, but ironically not uncommon in smarter hotels. Free wi-fi in the comfortable lounge foyer was excellent speed, as long as don't sit under the stairs!
