The changes on Manhattan’s Upper West Side come and go over the years, but I love that this century-old spot has the same character since time began.
AAA Inspector Notes
Classic. Since 1908, this restaurant has been supplying New Yorkers with the finest smoked fish, the best bagels and quintessential deli fare, all of which is available to purchase at the retail store. Gothamites line up around the block to get a table in the adjacent dining room, where patrons kvell over scrambled eggs and lox, lush blintzes, a stellar matzo ball soup and hearty sandwiches piled high with corned beef, pastrami or some of the city's best chopped liver.
