AAA Inspector Notes
BXL is an abbreviation for Brussels and that tells much of the story in this unfussy brasserie which fuses cuisines of both the French and Flemish parts of Belgium. Moules-frites, steak tartare, chicons au gratin, croquettes aux crevettes, entrecôte and other local specialties are all served by a warm and attentive staff. One of three locations, this busy spot has arguably the broadest and best Belgian beer selections in the country, including a fine Brussels style house-made amber ale cuvée. In the style of Flanders, some of the meat dishes use ale rather than the traditional French method of using wine to base a sauce.
