This popular TriBeCa spot has a casual, relaxed atmosphere but gets busy and can get very loud. The menu features rustic Italian tavern cooking that makes use of many fresh local ingredients. Start with sheep's milk ricotta crostini and antipasti selections like the delicious tartare or lamb meatball sliders with Caprino and cucumber. There are pastas with duck sausage and braised octopus, and entrées include wood-fired chicken with garlic, skate wing piccata, and speck-wrapped brook trout. The restaurant is less boisterous early in the week, but by week's end the mix of large groups from nearby offices and an after-work crowd socializing three deep at the bar sets the mood. Locande Verde is open for a fabulous rustic Italian breakfast that is perhaps a better option for a relaxed meeting.
