When you make it to the Big Leagues of the New York media or public relations worlds, you lunch here, or meet here after work for drinks and gossip.
AAA Inspector Notes
This place has a colorful history dating back to the repeal of prohibition. The dining room was meticulously restored to its former glory with a classic, clubby décor that includes a wonderful, large mural depicting Jazz Age legends. The menu offers upscale American cuisine with creative preparations of pork, duck, seafood and pastas. The bar remains a great spot for friends to meet over a drink while the famed monkeys look on from all corners of the room. The restaurant has a fun and sometimes odd history, and was the site of playwright Tennessee Williams accidental death from choking on an eye dropper cap.
