The modern two-story design is a feast for the eyes. Custom dark wood paneling, curved rattan-like ceiling treatments, paper lanterns and intricate white shell sculptures will have you feeling as though you entered a sleek club. Instead it is the backdrop for a fantastic meal overseen by famed chef, Nobu Matsuhisa. Partnering up with actor Robert De Niro long ago has helped bring celebrity clientèle to this second city location which offers a sushi bar, wood burning oven and hibachi table. Sauces, dressings and desserts are made from scratch in house. A particular favorite is the rock shrimp tempura in a creamy spicy sauce, the miso cod, and beef toban yaki which is served on a sizzling plate. Washu and Wagyu beef, sea urchin and Kumamoto oysters also are available if you want to splurge. Service is refined with a head waiter that normally recommends ordering numerous dishes served family style to promote sharing and discussion. The waitstaff can help custom create a meal based on your preferences.
