Folks wait outside for the doors to open at noon and then file into this simple storefront, brimming with anticipation of the Maine sea-shack fare that has made this place an institution in the West Village. The mussels are divine, the fried oysters are out of this world, and the clam chowder emits a lush smoky flavor. The blackboard lists specials. Service is super-casual but hospitable.
