This restaurant takes its name from the landmark building, once the headquarters of the Lambs— the highly prestigious professional theatrical club founded in the halcyon days of late 19th-century New York. Famous celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian and staff serve colorful American bistro and grill-style dishes with both New American and French accents. Steak a poivre, Dover sole, striped bass and a fab Amish chicken with a Tuscan white bean sauce are among the standout dinner offerings. The dining room really sets the scene and includes an ancient, massive fireplace. With a prime location in the theater district, this is a very popular spot for a pretheater dinner, as well as a favored business lunch or dinner destination for the upscale monied set from the nearby white-shoe law firms and big corporations. The bar and the dining room on the mezzanine can very nicely accommodate small groups; the seating is comfortable and fairly wide open. It's for good reason that this spot is a favored spot for the Midtown business elite to see and be seen.
