Old Westbury Gardens is at 71 Old Westbury Rd. between Long Island Expwy. (I-495) and Jericho Tpke. (SR 25). The 1906 Westbury House is furnished with antique furniture and art, including paintings by Henry Raeburn, Sir Joshua Reynolds, John Singer Sargent and Richard Wilson. The 200-acre grounds feature landscaping and formal gardens patterned after the English “great parks” of the 18th century. The Gardens also plays host to auto shows, concerts, festivals, and other indoor and outdoor events. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$12; $10 (ages 63+ and students with ID); $7 (ages 7-17). Holiday tour fees may vary; phone ahead.
Hours: Grounds open Wed.-Mon. 10-5, May-Oct.; Sat.-Sun. 10-5, in Apr.; Sat.-Sun. 10-4, in Nov. House open daily 11-4:30, May-Oct.; Sat.-Sun. 11-4 in Apr. and Nov. Guided house tours depart every half hour; garden tours twice daily at various times. The last car will be allowed on the property 1 hour before closing. Closed major holidays and the last weekend in Nov.
