Oneida Community Mansion House is at 170 Kenwood Ave. Building began on this 93,000-square-foot house in 1861, which contains more than 250 rooms that reflect the needs of the utopian community that lived here as one family. Rooms include the Big Hall, featuring a trompe l'oeil ceiling, and the original Oneida Community Library. Tours present permanent and changing exhibitions, family portraits, Empire and Victorian furniture, costumes and historical photographs. Guided tours are available.
$5; $3 (students with ID); free (ages 0-11); $15 (family, two adults and all children).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. noon-4. Tours are given Wed.-Sat. at 10 and 2, Sun. at 2. Closed major holidays.
