AAA Editor Notes
Great Camp Sagamore, 4 mi. s. of SR 28 via a dirt road, following signs, was a rustic summer retreat of the Vanderbilts built in 1897 and expanded in 1901. Exemplifying the 19th century's Great Camps, the lakeside main lodge features log and bark siding. Other buildings include the caretakers' quarters, a bowling alley and a dining hall.
Guided tours are available.
