AAA Editor Notes
Steuben Memorial State Historic Site is on Starr Hill Rd., 2.5 mi. w. of jct. SRs 12 and 28. Baron von Steuben's training programs are credited with strengthening the American troops at Valley Forge. Known as the Drillmaster of the American Revolution, von Steuben authored the “Blue Book,” a military training reference; his wartime services are said to be second in importance only to those of George Washington.

This land was deeded to von Steuben by Congress in appreciation for his contributions during the American Revolution and is home to his burial site, marked by a large stone monument, and a small, unfurnished cabin where he summered until his death in 1794. The grounds offer scenic views of the surrounding countryside.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
