Wilderstein is at 330 Morton Rd. This Queen Anne-style mansion originally built in 1852 and renovated in 1888, sits on 40 landscaped acres overlooking the Hudson River. The house was occupied by three generations of the Suckley family, the last of which was Margaret (Daisy) Suckley, longtime companion of Franklin D. Roosevelt. It contains family personal effects and heirlooms, including portraits of ancestors, china, books, photographs and furnishings. Rooms are appointed with different styles of period decor, including Louis XVI, Colonial Revival and English Renaissance. Tiffany stained-glass windows are found throughout the mansion. Guided tours are available.
Grounds free. Mansion tour $11; $10 (students with ID and senior citizens); free (ages 0-12).
Hours: Grounds and trails open daily 9-4. House open Thurs.-Sun. noon-4, May-Oct.; Sat.-Sun. 1-4, late Nov.-Dec. 31. Last mansion tour begins 30 minutes before closing.
