Memorial Art Gallery, 500 University Ave., features a collection of 12,000 works spanning 50 centuries of world art. Notable artists whose works are displayed include Paul Cézanne, Joseph Cornell, Helen Frankenthaler, El Greco, Winslow Homer, Jacob Lawrence, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe and Rembrandt.
The museum's collection of antiquities includes a pair of 4th-century Egyptian coffins, an intricately etched 16th-century suit of armor from Germany and a 17th-century Baroque organ. Works by American craft masters of the 20th and 21st centuries such as Wendell Castle and Albert Paley complement a strong collection of American art. The Centennial Sculpture Park includes pieces both inside and outside the gallery as well as a limestone amphitheater. Concerts, programs, guided tours and workshops are offered throughout the year.
