Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site, 504 W. Main St., was the site of two battles in the War of 1812, during which Sackets Harbor served as headquarters for the Army of the Northern Frontier and the Navy of the Great Lakes. The restored commandant's house dates from 1850. Behind the house the 1812 Navy Exhibit depicts a sailor's life aboard the Jefferson during the war. A visitors center is at the west end of Main Street.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
