Sands Point Preserve, 6 mi. n. of I-495 exit 36 on Searingtown Rd./Port Washington Blvd., was the early 20th-century estate of Howard Gould, and later of Daniel and Florence Guggenheim, with a portion belonging to Harry F. Guggenheim. The grounds include a 216-acre forest, beachfront and green open space, two castlelike structures built by Gould and a manor house built in 1923 by Harry F. Guggenheim. The grounds include six marked nature trails.
Leashed pets are permitted in designated areas.
