AAA Editor Notes
Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site is 8 mi. s. of the Bear Mountain bridge off US 9W on Park Rd. This was the location of a successful midnight assault by the American Corps of Light Infantry, commanded by Brig. Gen. Anthony Wayne, against a British garrison in July 1779. A museum presents exhibits. On weekends May through October, interpreters in period dress offer demonstrations with muskets and artillery; cooking and the daily tasks of camp life also are portrayed.
