Historic. New York's oldest tavern, this Colonial stone structure is listed as a national landmark because of the role it played in the Revolutionary War—it was a meeting place for patriots and a makeshift prison for a suspected traitor. Three centuries later, folks still can be found sitting at the bar talking politics and the news of the day or cozying up to one of the fires over a plate of Yankee pot roast, blue-claw crab cakes or slow-roasted duckling.
