Uncle Sam Wilson's Gravesite is off Oakwood Ave. in Oakwood Cemetery. Samuel Wilson, a meat contractor for the U.S. Army during the War of 1812, was the prototype for the original “Uncle Sam.” Wilson's trademark and finger-pointing caricature eventually became a national military recruiting symbol.
