AAA Editor Notes
High Falls Gorge, 4.5 mi. s.w. on SR 86, is a deep ravine cut into the base of Whiteface Mountain by the Ausable River. A colorful variety of strata, rapids, falls and potholes can be seen from a network of well-constructed bridges and paths. The center of the gorge can be reached without climbing stairs. The main building features mineral displays. In July and August, visitors may mine for gems at the Ausable River Mining Company. A snowshoe trail opens in winter and snowshoes may be rented.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
