Norstead—A Viking Village and Port of Trade is about 1.5 km (.9 mi.) e. off Hwy. 436, following signs. The site's features have been designed to represent the Viking era (790-1066). A church, blacksmith shop, chieftain's hall and barns are included; Snorri, a replica of a Viking ship, also is on the premises. Guides in period costume give interactive demonstrations, allowing visitors to get an idea of what life was like some 1,000 years ago.
Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
