AAA Editor Notes
Ringwood Manor is at 1304 Sloatsburg Rd. in Ringwood State Park. Martin J. Ryerson began construction of the manor house in 1807 on the estate once owned by Robert Erskine, George Washington's mapmaker. Later owners included industrialist Peter Cooper and ironmaster Abram S. Hewitt. Additions to the 51-room mansion exhibit a variety of architectural styles. Some 8,000 objects can be found in the home, ranging from the 1490s to 1920s. The grounds include formal gardens, as well as woodlands traversed by hiking and mountain biking trails.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
