From bakery to lunch spot to full blown restaurant serving dinner, this open-air neighborhood café is a hit with locals and visitors alike. The shrimp & grits, with chipotle cheddar grits, Dijon cream sauce, and bacon, is a perennial favorite, as are the huevos rancheros and chicken and waffle sandwich. Treats from the griddle include stuffed French toast and carrot cake-like pancakes, along with biscuit and egg dishes. Burgers, sandwiches and fish tacos satisfy for lunch-sized appetites, and after 4 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday, dinner selections include plates like meatloaf and trout. It’s not unusual to have to wait for a table if you arrive during peak meal times.
