In a region full of great barbeque, this tops the list for me. Always whole hog, cooked over wood coals, with a great chewy cornbread.
AAA Inspector Notes
Classic Historic. You'll know you've truly reached the barbecue capital of America when you see the Skylight Inn is capped by a replica of the U.S. Capitol's dome. Once inside, you are greeted by the melodic thump-thump of wood-smoked whole-hog barbecue being chopped at the counter. The menu is perfect in its simplicity—pork barbecue, coleslaw and corn bread, and of course, sweet tea. No credit cards accepted.
