Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is on campus at 250 E. Franklin St. The planetarium served as a NASA training center for Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Skylab astronauts; it contains arts and sciences exhibits, the 220-seat GlaxoSmithKline Fulldome Theater, a rose garden and a large sundial. The west wing features the UNC visitor center. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Exhibits and Science Stage free. GlaxoSmithKline Fulldome Theater $7.68; $6.51 (ages 3-12, 65+ and students with ID). Same-day second and subsequent planetarium shows are $3.26. Parking: $1.50 per hour. Metered parking is available on Franklin Street.
Hours: Public areas open Tues.-Sat. 10-3:30, Sun. 1-4:30. Planetarium show times vary, and some exhibits are open limited hours; phone ahead or consult the website calendar for schedule information. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
