North Carolina Botanical Garden is at 100 Old Mason Farm Rd. off the US 15/501 bypass. This 80-acre UNC facility has plants native to North Carolina and the Southeast. Displays include a natural habitat garden, wildflower borders, an herb garden, and carnivorous and aquatic plant collections. The grounds also encompass a natural area with walking trails. The garden's Education Center has exhibits, botanical-themed art, a Green Gardener Reference Library and an auditorium for events.
Leashed dogs are permitted on Piedmont Nature Trails.
