AAA Editor Notes
The North Carolina Collection, in the Wilson Library on South Rd., on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, offers a gallery, reading room and photographic archive. The gallery contains exhibits pertaining to the history of North Carolina and the university. Historic rooms display Elizabethan and early Colonial furnishings, maps and statues; of note are the Sir Walter Raleigh rooms and the gold rush exhibit. The Hayes Plantation Library holds almost 2,000 volumes and imprints dating from the late 1500s to the mid-1900s.
Guided 30-minute tours are available by reservation.
