AAA Inspector Notes
Rebuilt in 1999 after fire destroyed the original 1890 structure, the inn offers varied-size guest rooms appointed in simple, attractive décor. A few upscale cabins along the river are available also. Retreat to cozy sitting rooms to play a board game, or relax on large verandas that afford views of Chimney Rock State Park and the Rocky Broad River. The inn has played host to presidents, novelists, playwrights and movie actors. Here's a cool bit of trivia: The hardwood floor in the lobby was reclaimed from the site where the resort staff kids danced in the movie 'Dirty Dancing,' which was filmed nearby. Smoke free premises. 18 units, some cabins. 3 stories, interior/exterior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Pros: Excellent historic Inn with mountain't view. Beautiful room, spotlessly clean. Fabulous dinner with live music out on the deck.Art the keyboard player was exceptional and made our dinner under the stars magical! Sorry we were only staying one night. Don't miss this gem if you are anywhere near Asheville. We can't wait to go back.

Pros: The staff, Heidi and Cindi, at the front were more than accomodating. The Inn was extremely clean and well cared for. The room was spotless and attention to details like softness of towels and paraben free toiletries were great. The food was delicious. The location was perfect for a short get away retreat in the mountains!
Cons: We had a lightbulb burn out? That was the only negative!

Pros: Staff
Cons: I have stayed at luxury properties in the past and I found the billing as a luxury property a bit oversold. It was, however, very nice. Meals were fairly expensive and room as well when compared to an Omni. Location great for those wanting to see this part of country.
