AAA Inspector Notes
With extensive modern art in the public areas, this 1937 downtown high-rise mixes the past with the future for a unique, upscale stay. Rooms feature huge windows, luxe bedding and a minibar. Most bathrooms have oversize, black-tiled walk-in showers. A few suites feature private terraces. Throughout the hallways and in many rooms, the vintage terrazzo floors are on display. You must make a point of touring the second-floor lobby, upscale restaurant and state-of-the-art conference areas to take in the amazing art installations. When you encounter one of the giant fuchsia penguins, feel free to relocate it to make art of your own. The original bank vault is open for exploring; the massive door is a thing to behold. Word to the wise: if you happen to answer nature's call in the public restrooms on the mezzanine level, be sure to lock the cubicle door to darken the glass walls. If you can see out the glass, everyone can see in! Smoke free premises. 125 units. 17 stories, interior corridors.

Pros: While the staff was pleasant and willing to accommodate me by offering me complimentary meals and services, for the price point I felt that this was not adequate compensation...try dropping a night's fee and then maybe your guests may feel as though their concerns are genuine! I did use the comp meal and went to the restaurant while they were cleaning the kitchen...the Chef was amazing...he took pride in preparing my meal to the highest quality and remained pleasant even though he was about to leave. Thank you!!!
Cons: Aside from the fact that there was a major construction taking place in the front of the hotel, the tub didn't drain and I had to request my tub to be cleaned because housekeeping ha not performed this when I returned to the room (yuck), the shower curtain had mildew, the seat to the commode was broken/kept coming off, the bathroom heat was on and I had to report twice to get resolved (it was in the upper 70's/lower 80's and sunlight was beaming in thru large windows; dust bunnies under furniture, AND the railing in the elevator was broken...this is not a 4-star hotel!!
