You can't come to Durham and not dine at this barbecue landmark!
AAA Inspector Notes
Classic. Since 1952, this family-run eatery has been serving down-home Southern fare, including Eastern North Carolina-style pork barbecue in a spicy vinegar sauce. The menu is lengthy, with fried and barbecue chicken, fried seafood, sandwiches and such classic dishes as meatloaf, country fried steak, fried chicken livers, chicken 'n dumplings, and pot roast. Pecan pie is a fixture on the menu. Stop by the ATM before visiting; they do not accept credit cards. While you wait for a table, scan the wall of autographed photos to see how many of the famous faces you recognize of folks who have dined here over the years.
