AAA Editor Notes
Historic Edenton State Historic Site, 108 N. Broad St., includes several notable Colonial-era buildings and the 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse. Guided walking tours begin at the Historic Edenton State Historic Site Visitor Center, a late 19th-century frame house. A 14-minute slide show and exhibits about the area are presented. Trolley tours of historic downtown depart from the foot of Broadway. Bus tours also are offered.

Wear comfortable shoes for the tours.

Visitor center free. Guided walking tour $12.50; $7.75 (ages 3-12). Chowan County Courthouse $2.50; $1.25 (ages 3-12). Trolley tour $12.50; $2.25 (grades K-12). Cash only.

Visitor center open Tues.-Sat. 9-5. Forty-five minute trolley tours depart Tues.-Sat. at 10:30, 11:30, 1:30 and 2:30, Sun. at 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30. Walking tours begin at 10 and 2; additional tours may be added as staffing allows. Closed major holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 2 hours minimum.
