Frisco Native American Museum & Natural History Center, 53536 SR 12, has a nationally recognized collection of exhibits and artifacts showcasing the history and culture of various tribes. Beadwork, pottery, basketry, Navajo weavings, stone tools, native art and peace pipes are among the items displayed.
Highlights include an exhibit about the original inhabitants of Hatteras Island, a Hopi wishing drum and a dugout canoe. A self-guiding nature trail designed to accommodate visually impaired visitors includes a longhouse, fishing weir and other examples of village life before European contact.
