Miriam P. Brenner Children's Museum is at 220 N. Church St., across from the public library. “Our Town” is the theme of the museum's interactive exhibits and educational programs, which include a grocery store, post office, health center and theater where children can use their imaginations to role play. In the Transportation Gallery, children can explore the interiors of a real DC-9 jet, fire truck, police car and NASCAR racing car. The Tot Spot offers hands-on educational activities for toddlers under 2. At the outdoor Edible Schoolyard exhibit, an organic teaching garden and working kitchen show children how to plant, grow, harvest, prepare and cook fresh, seasonal vegetables. The Outdoor Play Plaza features two 30-foot-tall climbing structures connected by a 25-foot rope bridge.
