Greensboro History Museum, 130 Summit Ave., traces the development of Greensboro and Guilford County from early settlement to present-day industry. Voices of a City features exhibits about Native Americans and the civil rights movement. A reconstructed 19th-century Greensboro village displays a drugstore, schoolhouse, fire station, silent movie theater and a telephone switchboard. Also on the grounds is the First Presbyterian Church cemetery, the Francis McNairy House and the Isley House (closed for renovations). A military history collection showcases more than 150 Confederate firearms.

Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. 2-5. Closed city holidays except July 4. Allow 2 hours minimum.
