Greensboro Science Center, 4301 Lawndale Dr., displays a 36-foot Tyrannosaurus rex model and offers interactive exhibits, a maze, a play area for young children and live entertainment. On the grounds are the OmniSphere Theater, which shows both full-dome and 3-D programs; a reptile gallery; areas where kids can interact with small animals; and a children's petting zoo. Among the inhabitants of the Animal Discovery zoo are lemurs, gibbons, wallabies and tigers. The SciQuarium features penguins, otters, sharks, eels, hundreds of fish and rare Asian fishing cats that swim in the water to catch their prey. SKYWILD, a treetop adventure park, also is on the grounds. Picnicking is permitted.
$12.50; $11.50 (ages 3-13, ages 65+ and college students and military with ID). Theater admission $3-$5 extra. SKYWILD (includes Science Center admission) $46; $43 (ages 8-13, ages 65+ and college students and military with ID).
Hours: Museum and SciQuarium open daily 9-5. Theater shows Sat.-Sun. on the hour 11-4; Mon.-Fri. on the hour 1-4. Animal Discovery Zoo daily 9-5, Memorial Day-Labor Day; 10-4, rest of year. SKYWILD open Mon.-Fri. 11-5, Sat.-Sun. 9-5. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
