Burwell School Historic Site is at 319 N. Churton St. On the grounds is the 1821 frame house once inhabited by the Burwell family, who operated a school for young women. Period and reproduction pieces recount what 19th-century family and student life was like in both the Burwell home and the 1840 brick school building. A self-guiding tour explores Civil War history.
Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
