Montford Point Marines Museum is 1 mi. s.e. of SR 17 off Montford Landing Rd. at Camp Johnson. The museum, located in the East Wing of Building M101, tells the story of the Montford Point Marines, the first African Americans allowed to enlist in the Marine Corps and enter basic training at Camp Johnson (formerly Camp Montford Point) beginning in 1942.
Photographs, artifacts and uniforms highlight the segregation and integration of the Marine Corps in the early days of World War II.
