AAA Inspector Notes
Inspector Pick (Classification): Love the history of the vintage motel, the cozy lobby with fireplace, and the wide verandas.
The oldest continually operating motel in the Outer Banks—open since the 1940s—offers many charming, nostalgic features, including a welcoming veranda with white columns stocked with rocking chairs. The knotty pine paneled lobby with a brick hearth feels more like the living room of an old cottage. Its wide walkways are lined with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the sea breezes. Room sizes vary; some are large, but others are cozy. YMCA passes are available. Smoke free premises. 54 units, some efficiencies. 2 stories (no elevator), interior/exterior corridors.

Pros: Breakfast was great. No view of the ocean at all. Faced the street and street noise from first floor cheapest, smallest room with no HBO or other movie channels.
Cons: FD manager, was rude and condescending. We paid full cost of room. She told us we had paid for the cheapest room at the hotel, and even though there were many available rooms, we would have to pay $65-69 for any upgrade. Cheap for cheap is what

Pros: It was clean. Staff pleasant.
Cons: Extremely small room when many others that were oceanfront were not allowed to be given to us without paying more. It is off season in this area. Did not like heating system either as it blows hard and noisy. This is not a 3 and a half star place.
