Friendly staff, nice beach spot, ample parking. Functional, no frills room.
Pros: Reading/balcony area at beach was nice for watching waves and/or reading a book. The staff were all friendly - I tried to get into my room as soon as I could, and they were helpful by contacting me as soon as it was available.
Cons: While the room was mostly satisfactory, and the price was certainly great ($70), the fact that I was put into a handicapped room was less than optimal - I wish this was clearly stated when I tried to make the reservation, because I would have selected another room. The shower was good for wheelchair access, so that's great for those who need that, but because of this, it overflowed into the bathroom, so I used all but one towel to mop up the floor after my shower. Additionally, just outside the handicapped room, there's a sketchy unlocked door that leads to a very dark side part of the motel - I'm fully capable of dealing with dark alleys, but I don't know that this is an optimal exit for a handicapped person? Finally, unrelated to the upkeep of the JY, the neighboring dwelling had loud Frank Sinatra on at their (empty) pool house until midnight every night - while soothing, it's kind of distracting when trying to fall asleep.
