Pros:
Cons: I think it was over-priced, but it was a last minute reservation.

Pros: The Dolphin is in a great location right on the beach. It has a nice pool that was a good size for a small motel. The staff was very friendly and responsive and the rooms were clean. I liked that the floors were tiled rather than carpeted.
Cons: I really didn't like the bathroom. It was probably the smallest motel bathroom I've ever seen. It didn't have any shelves or hooks nor did it have a vanity top, so there was no place to put things or hang clothes while showering.

Pros: This sweet and simple motel right on the beach was a perfect place to land for a day on the outerbanks. The front desk gave us friendly and good recommendations for places to go. We had a great stay.

We were disappointed with the Dolphin Oceanfront Motel, but I guess we probably should not have been. It's a two-star joint, but should probably be just 1.5 stars. It needs a complete overhaul. The shower was itty-bitty, there weren't very many outlets in the room, the room doors open with an old-fashioned key (of which you only get one per family, so don't lock yourself out after hours; there's no emergency number for the staff!). I couldn't get over the fact that there is no coffeemaker in the room! That just seems downright un-American. Given the quality, I thought I spent too much for the room. If I owned the place, I'd tear it down and start over fresh. On the bright side, the location is great, and the courtyard creates a community feeling that one doesn't often get at hotels. It's pet friendly for those with pups, and the pool looked nice, though we didn't use it.
Pros: The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient to the beach, restaurants, and major roads. The room was relatively clean given the age of the motel.
Cons: Very bare bones facilities. The place is in pretty bad shape. The comforters have not been replaced in at least a decade. No coffee maker in the room. The windows don't open.

Pros: Loved the fact that our private beach was through a doorway at the end of the row of rooms!
Cons: No. We found it to be very comfortable and enjoyed our stay very much. We will go back.
