Dixon House, 619 Pollock St., is part of the Tryon Palace complex and was built in the early 1830s for merchant and former New Bern mayor George W. Dixon. Dixon eventually lost the house to foreclosure, and years later it served as a hospital for the 9th Vermont Infantry during Federal occupation. Antiques from the Federal and Empire periods decorate the interior.

Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. noon-5. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Dec. 23-25.
