Catawba County Museum of History, 30 N. College Ave., is housed in a three-story former county courthouse built in 1924; the building is a neoclassic revival structure in the center of a Southern courthouse square. Exhibits focus on the history of the Catawba River Valley and the western Piedmont area. Artifacts include military uniforms dating from the Revolution to the 20th century, items from the Civil War and an early 1930s race car. Guided tours are available by appointment. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
