AAA Editor Notes
North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is within the Theodore Roosevelt Natural Area, 5 mi. w. of Atlantic Beach on SR 58N at 1 Roosevelt Blvd. As visitors enter the building they encounter a 32-foot waterfall. Five of the state's aquatic zones are represented in the aquarium, which is designed around the theme “From the Mountains to the Sea.” The main exhibit, Living Shipwreck, presents a view of sea turtles, sharks, groupers and other large fish swimming through the wreckage of a sunken German WWII submarine replica.

Additional features include Queen Anne's Revenge, a replica of a marine community amid the debris of an 18th-century shipwreck, and a river otter exhibit complete with feeding programs.
