Cradle of Forestry in America Historic Site is 14 mi. n. of Brevard via US 276 at 11250 Pisgah Hwy. Two paved interpretive trails at this historic site detail the history of forestry in the United States as well as the history of the first forestry school in America. Visitors can explore a forest environment indoors at the Forest Discovery Center or take a ride in a helicopter simulator. A logging locomotive is displayed on one of the trails. An old sawmill and historic cabins are on the grounds. A 30-minute film also is presented.
$5; free (ages 0-15 and to all on Tues.). An additional fee is charged during special events.
