North Carolina Pottery Center, 233 East Ave., preserves the history and tradition of regional pottery through exhibits, demonstrations and educational programs. Museum pieces range from prehistoric jars to the contemporary work of 100 area potteries. Picnicking is permitted.
$2.50; $1 (grades 9-12); free (grades K-8).
Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10-4. Closed Jan. 1, July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
