AAA Inspector Notes
The barbecue at this friendly downtown eatery ventures beyond the typical NC-style pulled pork with vinegar sauce (although you can get that too). Try the smoked brisket, chicken leg quarters, wings or ribs, and sauces like sweet red, tangy gold or blueberry chipotle. The menu also features specialties like meatloaf, chicken fried chicken and the restaurant's own take on shrimp and grits, plus Cuban and cheesesteak sandwiches. If you're super hungry, or have buddies to share with, you could try "The Beast Feast," a hearty sampling of all the smoked meats. Don't let the short drive from I-95 deter you from trying this local gem; downtown Smithfield is very easy to navigate and a large public parking lot is located directly across the street from the restaurant.
