Battleship North Carolina is at jct. US 17 and US 421N, on the Cape Fear River at 1 Battleship Rd. Commissioned in 1941, the USS North Carolina served in every major naval offensive in the Pacific in World War II, earning 15 battle stars. A 2-hour self-guiding tour begins with a short film covering the past, present and future of the ship and continues as visitors explore portions of nine decks, allowing visits to the crew's quarters, the bridge, gun turrets and plotting, radio and engine rooms. Many exhibits depict the World War II experiences of crew members and their loved ones.

$14; $10 (ages 65+ and military with ID and family members ages 12+); $6 (ages 6-11). Guided tour additional $8-$17.50.
Hours
Daily 8-8, Fri. before Memorial Day-Labor Day; 8-5, rest of year. Last admission 1 hour before closing. Phone for July 4 and Christmas hours. Guided tours depart Sat. at 10 and 1:30.
